Case Converter
Convert text to uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case — eight versions at once, each with its own copy button.
What is it
Programming is full of naming rules: CSS likes dash-separated names, Python and C use underscores, and JavaScript functions prefer camelCase. This tool takes whatever messy text you have and shows all eight popular casings side by side, so you can grab the right one for a variable name or a headline.
Notes & fun facts
Why does CSS use dashes? Because you cannot type a dash in... well, you can — but early browsers treated spaces badly, and dashes turned out friendlier than underscores in URLs. Today kebab-case is the style every web developer types ten thousand times a day without noticing.
Origin & history
snake_case comes from the C and Unix tradition of the 1970s. camelCase grew popular with Smalltalk and later Java; PascalCase was coined around Pascal language naming conventions in the 1980s. kebab-case took off with CSS in the mid-1990s.
